Security

It is very important to ensure that your rabbit is safe and secure within their environments at all time.

Outdoors this means making sure that both the living space and exercise space are safe from predators, which may also include other humans interested in stealing or harming your rabbits.  You should consider ensuring all access doors are secured with locks (padlocks or combination locks are good).  Any mesh areas should not use traditional chicken wire, but must always use galvanised welded wire mesh as a minimum, or welded bars if possible.

Indoor security is important too, especially in our hi-tech homes.  Wires are very attractive to bunnies, so you need to ensure these are all well protected and hidden from them to avoid chewing or strangulation.  Rabbits generally can manage stairwells quite well, but sensible precautions are necessary to reduce the likelihood of them tripping and falling on stairs.  You also need to consider how to protect your indoor rabbits from young children and/or other household pets.
